WAZI (he/they) is a DJ, producer, and songwriter based in New York. Their artistic journey delves deep into the ancestral roots of Black trans and queer resistance, embracing the soul-stirring rhythms of Black dance music from diverse corners of the diaspora. They bring a magnetic presence behind the decks and in the recording studio as they traverse a musical odyssey that involves composition, production and the exploration between genres like House, Hip Hop, Jazz/AfroCuban Jazz, Afrohouse, Baile Funk, Vogue/Ballroom, Techno/Club, Amapiano, Dancehall, R&B, AfroBeats, and beyond. Welcome to their sonic sanctuary, where each beat and melody pulses with the heartbeat of a mesmerizing journey through spirit and sound.
Wazi is co-founder of Tender Bois Club - music and creative production house and the Development Director at Comfrey Films - a Film Training Program and Production House designed to launch Black trans, gender non-conforming, and intersex (TGNCI*) storytellers into independent filmmaking and to tell stories woven at the intersection of being Black and TGNCI*. Tender Bois Club
Tender Bois Club is a music and creative production house founded by Wazi Maret and Eli Chi in 2018. We design streetwear and curate original music and audio productions. We share the stories of queer and trans people of color and we collaborate on projects that align with our values for a better, more connected society. At Tender Bois Club, we are modeling the kind of creative and connected masculinity we want to see in the world.
